Welcome to Killing Cancer Back

Information to keep us updated on Breakthroughs in Cancer Research and Available Financial Aid and Support. We have been left with no alternative but to visualize "Cancer" as a treacherous enemy. And a sure method of success in battle is to be more informed, during the fight, than is your foe.

Killing Cancer Back Community

Thank you for taking a few moments out of your day to visit "KCB".  We'd like to welcome you to our community website and ask that you make yourself at home. Our hope is that you can learn new information about cancer that you've been curious about, as well as, find answers to specific, personal questions about this invasive killer. As with any "family of friends" we welcome your personal stories and information dealing with new methodology for Cancer eradication.

The first and most basic bit of information about "Cancer"

Definition;   "can·cer"
A disease characterized by the rapid growth of cells in the body, often in the form of a tumor. Cancerous tumors are malignant, which means they can spread into, or invade, nearby tissues. In addition, as these tumors grow, some cancer cells can break off and travel to distant places in the body through the blood or the lymph system and form new tumors far from the original tumor.  National Cancer Institute Feb 9, 2015

Cancer Patient Assistance Programs

There are a number of federal and state programs that provide financial benefits to individuals and families. These benefits, known as entitlements, are primarily set up for low-income households, the elderly, and the disabled. Each entitlement has eligibility requirements. There are also programs administered through state governments that can help with health care related needs.

KCB LIST OF CLINICAL TRIALS

KCB LIST, CLINICAL TRIAL 17; The New Drug "pembrolizumab"
The Keynote bladder cancer clinical trials are studying an investigational drug, pembrolizumab, to see if it is safe and if it helps slow down or stop the growth of bladder cancer. The most common type of bladder cancer is urothelial carcinoma. This type of cancer begins when cells insider the urinary bladder start to grow rapidly. As more cancer cells build up they form a tumor, which can grow through the layers of the bladder and spread to other areas of the body. When the cancer has not grown into the muscle layer of the bladder it is called non-muscle invasive bladder cancer.

Pembrolizumab is an investigational immunotherapy that may help the body’s immune system attack cancer cells. When a cancer cell binds to an immune cell, the immune cell can’t do its job. These trials want to see if pembrolizumab can block cancer cells from binding with immune cells to help allow the immune cells to work properly.

Participating in a clinical trial is an important decision. Anyone participating in a trial should know as much as possible about what is being studied, what risks are involved and what potential benefits may be gained before deciding to enroll. If you are interested in participating in a clinical trial, please talk to your doctor first.

KCB Investigative List of Holistic Treatment & Research        KCB List Clinical Trial 2 "Cannabis Oil"

Dr. Yeung is manager of the About Herbs database, created and maintained by MSK’s Integrative Medicine Service. The service provides complementary therapies such as acupuncture, music therapy, and massage that are used in addition to — not as alternatives for — mainstream cancer approaches such as chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery.

"Cannabis Oil" -  The hype:   Cannabis oil is often heralded as a treatment to destroy or shrink cancerous tumors, as well as a cure for diabetes, ulcers, arthritis, migraines, insomnia, infections, and many other diseases. Also called marijuana oil or hemp oil, it’s extracted from marijuana plants, often with higher proportion of a compound known as CBD (cannabidiol), which has less of a psychoactive effect than the more-famous THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) compound that gets marijuana users high. Cannabis oil is available in several forms with different potencies. It can be infused into cooking oil that users squirt under the tongue or mix into food. Its vapors can also be inhaled. By federal law, cannabis products are illegal, though several states have enacted laws to legalize their medical use.   The evidence: While commercially available cannabis compounds are FDA-approved to reduce cancer treatment–related side effects such as nausea and vomiting and to improve appetite, no clinical trials have shown that cannabis products can treat cancer. Claims that cannabis oil cures cancer are anecdotal and largely unsupportable, based on scant research done in mice and in labs. Side effects can include memory and attention loss. Perhaps most important, there is evidence that cannabis compounds may inhibit enzymes that patients need to metabolize other anticancer drugs, thereby increasing their toxicity or reducing their effectiveness.    The verdict: “So far, there are no human studies that show cannabis oil can be used as cancer treatment,” Dr. Yeung says. “Patients who are using it — or any form of marijuana — should let their doctors know so they can advise you properly.”
